The Department of Mathematics at Vrije Universiteit Brussel invites applications for a postdoctoral position in algebra, within the framework of the FWO-DFG Weave Project with Germany (grant G043326N). The position can start as soon as possible. The initial appointment is for two years, with the possibility of renewal for up to one additional year.
The gross monthly salary follows the standard postdoctoral salary scale in Belgium and depends on the candidate’s seniority and family status.
Hopf algebras, in particular Nichols algebras and deformation theory. Expertise in these areas, or in modular representation theory, or permutation group theory is required.
Applicants must hold a PhD in mathematics before the starting date, and no later than September. A good command of English is required. Applicants are expected to undertake the following duties: The successful candidate will conduct research related to Nichols algebras and deformation theory, and collaborate with partners in Germany. The project includes regular interactions with Heckenberger’s research group in Marburg.
